HA NOI (VNS)  — Viet Nam's Nguyen Tien Minh advanced to the second round of the Yonex Japan Open badminton tournament yesterday in Tokyo.

World No 10 Minh beat Wing Ki Wong of Hong Kong 21-17, 21-13 in 42 minutes.

The No 7 seed will play Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark in the next round, who yesterday beat Jen Hao Hsu from Chinese Taipei 21-12, 21-14.

The Superseries tournament will conclude on Sunday with all five final matches..— VNS
