HANOI (VNS) —Two-time winner Nguyen Tien Minh cruised into the second round of the Yonex Open in Chinese Taipei yesterday.
The world No 17 Minh defeated Hok Hong Woon of Malaysia 21-10, 21-14 in only 26 minutes, booking a second round match against Sukamta Evert. The Indonesian beat over Beryno Jiann Tze Wong of Malaysia 21-10, 21-14 in the first round.
On the women's side, Vu Thi Trang beat Ksenia Polikarpova of Russia 21-9, 21-11 in 20 minutes. She will next play No 8 seed Ya Ching Hsu of the hosts.
The Chinese Taipei Open is an official tournament of the Badminton World Federation which offers US$200,000 to the winners. — VNS
