HA NOI (VNS) — Defending champion Nguyen Tien Minh reached the final match of the Yonex Suffolk County Community College US Open Championships yesterday in New York.
The world No 17, and ranked No 1 for the tournament, came from behind to defeat Wing Ki Wong of Hong Kong 19-21, 21-13, 21-14 in some 74 minutes during the men's semi-final match.
It was Minh's third win in their four recent meets.
He will next play Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei, No 2 seed here, who yesterday won 21-9, 21-6 over Martin Guiffre of Canada.
It will be their third meet in two years. Minh won the previous two matches. — VNS
