The world No 14 and the tournament's eighth seed lost to Hu Yun of Hong Kong, the world No 16, 22-24, 15-21, in just 41 minutes.
The two players have met each other six times, with honours even with three wins apiece.
Olympian Minh is scheduled to compete in the National Individual Badminton Championships which will open in the central province of Thanh Hoa next Monday, and the Chinese Taipei Open from October 2-7.-VNS
