HA NOI (VNS)—No 1 seed Nguyen Tien Minh went through to the semi-finals of the Yonex Chinese Taipei Open in New Taipei City yesterday.

Minh, world No 5, yesterday defeated unseeded Khosit Phetpradab of Thailand 21-9, 21-10 in the men's singles event in half of hour.

In the semis, he will play No 5 Jen Hao Hsu of the host.

On the women's side, Vu Thi Trang of Viet Nam was eliminated after losing 18-21, 21-17, 16-21 to Juan Gu of Indonesia in the quarter-final round.
