Viet Nam's top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh defeated Malaysia's Daren Liew 14-21, 21-11, 21-13 in the quarter-finals of the Li Ning Singapore Open yesterday.

Although quickly losing the first set, Minh remained calm to control the second and third. It took him only 56 minutes to beat his Malaysian rival.

Minh will next play Thailand's Boonsak Ponsana today. — VNS
