Minh wins his first stage, Tam leads tour

HA NOI (VNS) — Le Nguyet Minh won his first stage of the Trans-Viet cycling tournament while Nguyen Thanh Tam emerged the tour leader at the end of the seventh stage yesterday.

Minh, from Vinamit HCM City, achieved a solo finish, traversing the 160km distance from Dong Ha City of Quang Tri Province to Quang Binh Province, garnering a time of 4hrs 11.15min.

During the competition, Minh faced no difficulty, leaving his rivals far behind to reach the finish line alone.

Green jersey Do Anh Tuan of Domesco Dong Thap 1 came second, followed by Le Van Dong of VTV Can Tho. Tam of Hat Ngoc Troi An Giang was among the cyclists included in the first group of peloton. His successful performance was enough to push him to the tour's top spot, posting a total time of 21:42.28.

Le Ngoc Son of Domesco Dong Thap 1 was close behind, lagging by just 27 seconds. Ariya Phounsanath from Laos' CNN placed attained a time of 21:42.70. — VNS
