HA NOI (VNS) — Nguyen Tien Minh of Viet Nam won the men's singles title at the Sydney International badminton tournament on Saturday in Australia.
The nation's No 1 layer ended his one-year international title draught after beating No 1 seed Zulfadli Zulkiffli of Malaysia 21-12, 21-13 in the final match.
It was his third win over Zulkiffli in his career.
The victory brought Minh US$1,350 and 4,000 points to strengthen his world ranking.
Minh, who is currently world No 38, will next take part in a Chinese Taipei Grand Prix next month and then a tournament in the US in December. — VNS
