BINH THUAN (VNS)  — The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has given its approval to the southern province of Binh Thuan to organise its first national Miss Ocean 2014 contest.

Registration for contestants opened on January 1. The shortlist of candidates will be decided in Ha Noi, while the semi-final rounds will be held in HCM City. The competition finale will be held in Binh Thuan Province on May 23.

The contest is an initiative by the Blue Ocean World, a sea and ocean protection project promoted by the Viet Nam Environment Protection Fund and Vo Viet Chung Ltd Co.

According to the culture ministry, it will be the second official beauty contest, apart from Miss Viet Nam, to be held later this year. — VNS
