HA NOI (VNS)— The final round for the Miss Jewellery 2013 pageant will be held on July 20 on Tuan Chau island complex in Ha Long City in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
The contest aims to honor the beauty of Vietnamese women, combined with the various exquisite jewellery collections made by talented craftsmen, said Le Ngoc Dung, chairman of the Viet Nam Gemstones, Jewellery and Handicraft Association and head of the event's organising board, at a press conference on Monday in Ha Noi.
The competition, that is organised every two years, is for women aged between 18 and 27 years old, who are Vietnamese citizens working in Viet Nam or foreign countries. The qualifying round will take place from May 19 to June 21 in various locations around the country.
The winner of the contest will receive VND300 million (US$15,000) while two runners-up will be awarded VND100 million and VND80 million respectively.
Apart from the three main prizes, beauty queen and two runners-up, the organising board will deliver 10 additional prizes for other categories, such as best deportment, best figure, best evening gown and most beautiful face.
Under the new rules, 30 per cent of the winners' prizes this year will be donated to charity.
So far, more than 100 people have registered to take part in the contest.-VNS
