DA NANG — Lai Huong Thao, 21, from Quang Ninh has been crowned Miss Sport of Viet Nam, after beating Duong Thi Ha Giang and Giang Thi Chuong in the competition's final night at Ba Na Hills resort.

After modeling swimsuits and eveningwear and competing in other areas, she walked away on Sunday with a crown worth VND1 billion (US$48,000) and a cash-prize of VND500 million ($24,000).

The victory also secured her a spot in Miss Supranational 2012, the fourth edition of the Miss Supranational pageant, in Torun, Poland on August 25.

Giang from the northern province of Ha Giang ranked as the first runner-up, while Chuong placed as the second runner-up.

The organising committee also presented prizes for the best talent, smoothest skin, finest body, nicest face, most friendly and crowd favourite.-VNS
