HA NOI (VNS)— Writer Nguyen Huy Thiep will join an exchange and discussion with readers on his writing career and on Vietnamese literature in the post-1975 period. Cultural researcher La Khac Hoa will host the event, which will take place this afternoon at the Heritage Space, Dolphin Plaza, 28 Tran Binh Street in Ha Noi. Entrance is free.
Thiep is a Vietnamese writer who has had the largest number of works published abroad and translated into foreign languages, including French, English, Italian and Danish, as well as Dutch, German and Korean.
Some of his best known works include Tuong Ve Huu (The Retired General), Sang Song (Crossing the River) and Nhung Ngon Gio Hua Tat (The Winds of Hua Tat).
He received the French Literature and Arts Order in 2007 and Italian Literature Award in 2008. Meeting and talking with the writer has become a special occasion because recently, Thiep announced that he had stopped writing. — VNS
