HCM CITY (VNS) — Dozens of musicians will participate in a music programme tomorrow night at HCM City’s Acoustic Bar in memory of 42-year-old rocker Trần Lập, former leader of the rock band Bức Tường (The Wall), who passed away in Hà Nội last week.
Rockers Phạm Anh Khoa, Hải Bột, and the bands Micorway, Black Infinity, Oringchains and Acoustic Band will perform popular songs composed and performed by Lập and his bands.
The event will also feature young singers such as Bảo Anh, Kim Loan and Hà Văn Đông, who participated in radio the Voice of Việt Nam, a version of the American singing contest The Voice, under the lead of Lập, one of the show’s coaches.
Half of the proceeds will be sent to Lập’s wife and children.
Born in 1974 in Hà Nội, Lập graduated from the Hà Nội College of Arts in 1997 before studying economics at Hà Nội National University.
He and his friends established Bức Tường in 1995 to impart their love of hard rock to young audiences.
As the band’s leader, Lập composed more than 30 songs, most of which feature themes about country, love and friendship.
His band was awarded the Best Hard Rock Band Prize at the Vietnamese Rock Festival in 2004.
He worked as music director and editor for several music programmes produced by leading television stations.
He died on March 17 in Hà Nội after a four-month battle with cancer.
The concert will begin at 8pm tomorrow (March 25) at the Acoustic Bar at Ngô Thời Nhiệm Street in District 3. — VNS
