HCM CITY (VNS)— A music night with the theme Thap Sang Uoc Mo (To Light up a Dream) will raise money for a fund that offers scholarships to poor and ethnic minority students who have excellent learning results.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund run by the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
The event, to be held tomorrow at the HCM City Theatre, will be broadcast live on the HTV9 channel.
Foreign and local business sponsors are also taking part in the event.
On June 12, the Vu A Dinh Fund organisers signed agreements with several schools and enterprises to carry out two projects.
The Uom Mam Tuong Lai (Future Incubator) project will sponsor 36 ethnic students with the total fund of VND15.6 billion (US$742,800) in the 2013-14 academic year.
Students at boarding schools will receive free accommodations and tuition.
Another project, Chap Canh Uoc Mo (Dream Chasing), will provide scholarships worth a total of VND628 million ($29,900) through the 12th grade to ethnic students this year. — VNS
