HCM CITY (VNS) — Saketh Myneni of India was crowned champion of the Viet Nam Tennis Open-ATP Challenger yesterday in HCM City.
The No 4 seed defeated No 8 Jordan Thomson of Australia 7-5, 6-3 in the men's singles final.
Saketh is ranked No 168 in the world. The 27-year-old won gold and silver medals at the Asian Games in 2014.
He has earned nine Men's Futures' singles titles and one Challenger, with the Viet Nam Open Challenge being his second title.
Saketh later was awarded a silver medal in the doubles event. He paired with fellow-countrymen Sanam Singh, losing 1-6, 6-3, 8-10 to Tristan Lamasine and Nils Langer. — VNS
