HA NOI (VNS) — Ly Hoang Nam of Viet Nam beat Chinese Weiqiang Zheng 6-3, 6-1 yesterday to enter the quarter-final round of the 25th Mitsubishi-Lancer International Junior Championships in Manila, the Philippines.

The No 6 seed will next meet No 4 seed Kang Ku-keon of South Korea today in the boys' singles event. Kang defeated Sameer Kumar of the USA 6-1, 6-2 yesterday.

The Vietnamese national champion also earned his berth in the doubles category together with partner Bogdan Bobrov. In the second round, the second seed pair defeated Jake Delaney and William Matheson 6-3, 6-4.

Their next match will be against Mitchell Harper and Hei Yin Andrew Li who won 1-6, 6-3 [11-9] over No 8 pair Kuan-Yi Lee and Liang Yu Richard Lin.— VNS
