HA NOI (VNS) – Rising Vietnamese tennis star Ly Hoang Nam progressed to the second round of the ITF junior tennis championships, which is taking place in Bangkok, Thailand.

Nam, who is seeded No 2 at the tournament, overcame Igor Barzasekov of Turkmenistan 6-4, 6-3 in the first round yesterday.

Nam will face Harper Mitchell of Australia in the second round. Harper beat Rakpuangchon Vorachon of Thailand 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-2.

This is the 16-year-olds first tournament since he successfully defended his title at the national tennis championships early this month. – VNS
