HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam's Ly Hoang Nam defeated Maxime Mora of France in the first round of boys' singles at the 2015 Roland Garros Junior French Championships early this morning (Vietnamese time).
It was not an easy match for 18-year-old Nam who is world junior No 12. However, with skills and experience gained from recent junior events, Nam beat his French rival, ranked 106th, 2-0 (6/3, 6/4).
Nam will now play Nathan Ponwith of the US or Louis Wessels of Germany.
Southern province Tay Ninh-born Nam was allowed to withdraw from the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore to play in the second Grand Slam of the year.
