Ly Hoang Nam defeated world junior No 28 Marc Polmans to reach the final of the Chang Thailand ITF Junior G1 in Bangkok.
HA NOI (VNS) — Ly Hoang Nam defeated world junior No 28 Marc Polmans to reach the final of the Chang Thailand ITF Junior G1 in Bangkok.
Nam, No 78, beat the Australian 6-3, 6-3 in a match that Nam went into as the underdog.
Polmans won the Australian Open boys' doubles in January after reaching the quarter-finals in the singles event.
But it was the Vietnamese youngsters day, and he has yet to drop a set in the tournament.
"I was really determined going into this match. I started better and I deserved to win," said Nam, who has reached his first ever final of an ITF Group 1 event.
His rival in the final will be world junior No 12 Akira Santillan of Japan who beat Chan Yeong-oh of South Korea 7-6 (6), 6-4. — VNS
