HA NOI (VNS) — Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam has made a big jump in the world junior rankings after his recent outstanding performances.
Nam, with 367.5 points, is seeded 52nd now, up from 75th, in the January list of the International Tennis Federation.
His world ranking also makes Nam the top athlete in ASEAN and 12th in Asia.
It is his career-best rank as well as the highest achieved by a Vietnamese player. Earlier, Australian Open participant Nguyen Hoang Thien was seeded 67th in 2012.
Nam grabbed a number of points after his semi-final appearance in the boys' singles and a quarter-final appearance in the boys' doubles, both at Venezuela's Copa Gatorade. Earlier Nam and his partner had reached the final of Costa Rica's 50th Coffee Bowl.— VNS
