HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam's top tennis player Ly Hoang Nam has moved up 29 steps in the International Tennis Federation (ITF)'s latest junior rankings and placed at the 49th spot.
Nam's ranking had shot up after he reached the final of the Chang Thailand ITF Junior G1 in Bangkok, Thailand last Saturday and lost to Akira Santillan of Japan in the final. This is the first time that Nam has qualified for a world junior tennis championship organised by the ITF.
The teenager, who entered the second round of the 2015 Australian Open's junior event, used to rank at the 42nd spot in the world rankings.
He is now preparing to secure a place to compete at the 2015 French Open at Roland Garros, Paris in late May. — VNS
