HA NOI (VNS)—Vietnamese tennis hopeful Ly Hoang Nam was knocked out of the ITF G1 Seogwipo Asia Oceania International Junior Tennis Championships following a defeat in the third round.
Nam, the No 12 seed at the tournament, took the first set 6-4 against unseeded Matsumura Ryotaro of Japan but lost the second and third sets with the same score of 6-3.
Nam's loss is one of many surprises yesterday. Top seed Lee Duck Hee of South Korea also failed to reach the quarterfinals after losing to Marc Polamas of Australia 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Another South Korean player, second seed Hong Seong Chan, was also stunned by Takahashi Yusuke of Japan. – VNS
