HA NOI (VNS) – Viet Nam's tennis representative Ly Hoang Nam was ousted from the Abierto Juvenil Mexicano in both singles and doubles events early this morning in Mexico City.
Nam, 15, lost 3-6 6-4 6-7 (2) to Dennis Uspensky of the US in the second round.
The Vietnamese player's loss was unexpected, as Uspensky was ranked much lower than Nam in the youth table. Nam was ranked 276th while Uspensky was 352nd.
Earlier in the day, Nam failed to get a win in the boy's doubles category when paired with host player Adrian Ortiz. The two were beaten 3-6, 6-3 [2-10] by the No 5 seed duo Tommy Mylnikov of Canada and Martin Redlicki of the US.
Nam's next destinations will be Costa Rica and Venezuela. – VNS
