HA NOI (VNS)—Vietnamese tennis teenager Ly Hoang Nam yesterday beat Hua Runhao to reach the semi-final stage at the ITF's Group II youth tennis championships in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 16-year-old player, who is seeded No 2 at the tournament, crushed the sixth seed from China 7-5, 6-0 in the quarter-final game at the National Tennis Development Centre.
Nam will face Kaewsuto Chayanon of Thailand today in the semi-finals. Chayanon overcame 12th seed Bogdan Babrov of Russia 1-6, 7-6(3), 6-3 in the last eight.
Top seed Pokotilov Boris of Russia will take on fourth seed Tortrakul Teeradon of Thailand in the other semi-final match.
