HANOI (VNS) — Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam has become the first Vietnamese player to reach the qualifying round of the French Open Juniors, the event's organising board has announced.
Nam, who is the world No 66 in the ITF junior rankings, also won a berth to compete at the Australia Open 2014, but skipped the opportunity to concentrate on the American tour to gain more experience and accumulate points.
Nam took part on a training course in the Czech Republic last month to get ready for French Open.
He is coached by Linus Erisson of Belgium, who works for the European Tennis Association.
Nam won a gold medal in the men's singles at the Asian Youth Games in China last year. — VNS
