The unseeded Vietnamese won the first set against No 5 seed Sidharth Rawat 6-3 before the Indian retired in the second set.
The match lasted only 23 minutes.
Nam will next meet first seeded Vishnu Vardhan, another Indian, who beat Japanese Yuichi Ito 7-6, 7-6.
The event will close on Sunday with US$10,000 up for grabs. – VNS
