HA NOI  (VNS) — Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam has jumped 19 places from No 1055 to No 1036 in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals, ATP, world rankings.

The 18-year-old Nam accumulated 10 points although he was ousted from the recent US Open's junior circuit in both boys' singles and doubles category.

If Nam can gain one more point, he will reach the world's top 1,000.

The Tay Ninh province-born player will compete in the Men's Future tournament in the Philippines, instead of competing in the National Tennis Championship starting today in Ha Noi.

Nam, who won the 2015 Wimbledon boys' doubles event, will then take part in the Viet Nam Open, on the ATP's Challenger Tour in HCM City on October 9. — VNS
