HA NOI (VNS) — Vietnamese tennis ace Ly Hoang Nam won his second gold medal at the ITF Asian Closed Junior Championships in India, winning the men's singles event on Saturday.

Nam defeated Renta Tokuda of Japan 6-2, 6-3 in the final.

Earlier, Nam teamed up with Alberto Lim of the Philippines to win the doubles title, beating Japanese duo Sora Fukuda and Tokuda.

It is the second time this year that 18-year-old Nam has won both the singles and doubles titles at a junior tournament. The first time was at the Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup in Malaysia last month.

With the titles in India, Nam will accumulate 300 points and is likely to move into the ranks of the top 25 junior players in the world.

He will also be a key player for the national team that will compete at the 28th Southeast Asian Games this June in Singapore. Earlier this year, Nam reached the second round of the junior Australian Open. — VNS
