HCM CITY (VNS)— A year-long programme to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Viet Nam-UK diplomatic relations was kicked-off in HCM City early this week with a fashion show by designer Cong Tri and a performance by the UK a cappella group Black Voices.
The launch marked the two countries' pledge to work together to "Inspire, Learn and Innovate" through intensified co-operation in arts and culture, education and trade and investment.
Speaking at the event, British Consul General Douglas Barnes said: "To inspire, we will run cultural exchanges in both directions reaching beyond cities and beyond barriers. To learn, we will use technology to help more young people reach their potential, supporting the development of educational centres of excellence in both countries.
An extensive programme of business, cultural and education activities will run throughout the year in Ha Noi, HCM City and Da Nang.-VNS
