BAC GIANG (VNS) — The National Team Chess Championships began yesterday in the northern province of Bac Giang.

About 132 chess players from 15 cities and provinces nationwide such as Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and HCM City, besides Ha Noi, are competing in the championships.

The nation's top young male competitors at the event include Nguyen The Phu, Nguyen Dinh Trung, Nguyen Hoang Hai and Truong Anh Kiet. Luu Ha Bich Ngoc, Nguyen Hai Phuong Anh and Nguyen Ha Phuong are among the female competitors.

The best players of the championship will be chosen to compete in the coming international tournaments.

The tournament will end on July 25. — VNS
