Navibank Sai Gon draw in AFC Cup


Navibank Sai Gon drew with Malaysia's Kelantan 0-0 in their first match of group H at the Asian Football Confederation Cup yesterday at Nasional Bukit Jalil stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

HA NOI — Navibank Sai Gon drew with Malaysia's Kelantan 0-0 in their first match of group H at the Asian Football Confederation Cup yesterday at Nasional Bukit Jalil stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Vietnamese team currently stand in 11th place in V-League while Kelantan rank first in the Malaysian Super League with an impressive.

The draw was a surprise for the Vietnamese team because they only brought young and inexperienced players, most of them made their first appearance in an AFC Cup game.

The Malaysia squad attracted players who took part in the Viet Nam-Malaysia semi-final round of the 2010 Asian Football Federation Cup, such as goalkeeper Khairul Fahm Che Mat and midfielder Norshahrul Idlan Talaha

Earlier, Indonesia's Arema tied with Myanmar's Ayeyawady United 1-1 at Gajayana stadium in Malang, Indonesia. The host opened the match thanks to Roman Chemelo in the 28th minute. In the second half, the guests pressed attacks and equalised in the 63rd minute.

Navibank SG has moved to third place in group C. They will compete against Arema on March 21. — VNS
