HCM CITY (VNS)— Leaders Song Lam Nghe An look likely to extend their lead at the top of the Eximbank V-League as they host Vissai Ninh Binh this weekend.
Nghe An have hit the ground running this season, winning five matches and drawing one to take a commanding six-point lead with 16 points.
Their opponents Ninh Binh have not been playing well this season, winning just one and losing two to languish in eighth place with six points.
At home Nghe An have won all three matches at the Vinh Stadium.
In another Sunday game Binh Duong, still searching for their first win of the season, could well end their drought as they take on fellow-strugglers Long An at home.
Second-bottom Binh Duong got a badly-needed boost with their first point this season after a 2-2 draw last weekend in an away game.
Long An, who lie third bottom, have made things difficult after losing the last two matches.
With Ha Noi T&T, SHB Da Nang, and Dong Nai not playing, Hai Phong and Hoang Anh Gia Lai, both on 10, will contest for third place at Hai Phong today.
Bottom team Kien Giang, who will try to add to their sole point, have a tough task as they take on seventh-placed Thanh Hoa, who trouble every team in the league. — VNS
