HA NOI (VNS) — Ngoc Lam Secondary School scored one goal in each half to beat Phu Do 2-0 in the National U13 Student Football Festival final yesterday in Ha Noi.

Tran Dinh Thai opened the score in the first half as it was the only chance that his squad created in the face of stormy attacks by the Phu Do side.

Phan Tan Dat doubled the result near the end of the second half, making him one of two best scorers of the tournament, with 10 goals.

His teammate Pham Xuan Hung, who played a key role in keeping their net safe yesterday, has been voted Best Goalkeeper.

Do Van Quan of Phu Do is the Best Player of the first ever festival.

Hoa Lu of HCM City and Huynh Thuc Khang of Da Nang shared the third place.

"The festival definitely created a playing ground for students where they could share their experiences and skills. Through such competitions, we hope to find new talents for our football federation," said Le Hoai Anh, general secretary of the Viet Nam Football Federation.

A team of best players will enjoy a tour to Japan in October.

The event, co-organised by Thieu Nien Tien Phong (Young Pioneers) newspaper and The Thao 24h Joint Stock Company, was part of a Yamaha programme titled "For the Future of Viet Nam Football". — VNS
