HA NOI — Le Thi Hoang Ngoc is the second shooter to qualify for the London Olympics, after marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh earned a ticket this week.

Ngoc won a place after finishing sixth in the women's 25m pistol at the 12th Asian Shooting Championship in Doha, Qatar.

Normally, only the first four leading markswomen would have won a place to the Olympics, but fortunately for Ngoc, the first four in Doha had already qualified. Ngoc is now the seventh Vietnamese athlete to win a place to the Olympics. So far, two taekwondo artists, one judoka, two gymnasts and one shooter have earned Olympic places. — VNS
