HCM CITY — Violist Nguyen Huu Nguyen, soloist with the French National Orchestra, and his friends will perform a chamber music concert at the HCM City Conservatory on Friday.
The Nguyen and Friends concert will feature French cellist Catherine Doise of the Pasdeloup Orchestra, and piano lecturer Pham Quynh Trang of the Viet Nam National Academy of Music.
Lecturers and artists at the HCM City Music Conservatory including viola player Bui Anh Son, violist Le Minh Hien, bassist Tran Duc Minh and clarinet player Nguyen Tuan Loc will also perform.
The concert will open with String Quartet No 4 in Major C by Beethoven, and Clarinet Quintet by Mozart, a composition for clarinet.
In the second part, Nguyen and his friends will perform Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No 1 in D Minor and Glinka's Grand Sextuor.
Nguyen, born 1972 in Nha Trang, is also a former student of the HCM City Music Conservatory.
After winning the 1993 Concours Autumn, a national contest which aims to recognise outstanding young Vietnamese musicians, he studied at the Paris Conservatory of Music.
He has been a soloist with the French National Orchestra since 2003.
The concert will begin at 8pm at the HCM City Music Conservatory on 112, Nguyen Du Street in District 1.
