(VNS) The National Beach Handball Championships is scheduled to kick off today in Khanh Hoa Province's Nha Trang City.

The event, which lasts until June 10, will attract the participation of six teams.

The event's best athletes will be chosen for the fourth Asian Beach Games next year in Thailand.

The fifth Asian Beach Games will also be held in Nha Trang and the hosts are expected to be strong contenders for medals.

At the second and third Asian events, Viet Nam picked up the bronze medal, finishing behind Japan and South Korea.-VNS
