Truong Nguyen Thanh Nhan of Eximbank HCM City 1 powered to victory on the fourth stage of the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta Cycling Tournament yesterday.

The 118km stage stretched from Soc Trang City to Ca Mau City. At the 10km mark, nine cyclists broke away from the pack and opened up a lead of three minutes.

With 30km to go, the Emximbank HCM City 1 team finally caught up with the leading group, and it was Nhan that crossed the finish line first ahead of teammate Le Van Duan in a time of 3:01.13. Nguyen Thanh Tam of An Giang Plant Protection 1 came in third.

Dinh Quoc Viet retained the yellow jersey with an overall time of 11:02.25, followed by Trinh Phat Dat of An Giang Plant Protection 1 and Nhan.

In the team competition, Eximbank HCM City 1 top the rankings with a combined time of 33:08.28. The two Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap teams are in second and third.

Today cyclists will pedal the 180km fifth stage from Ca Mau City to Can Tho City. — VNS
