HCM CITY (VNS) — The Saigon International Film School will host a discussion on directing and movie-making with Japanese-American director Michael Toshiyuki Uno, an Oscar nominee, on Saturday in HCM City.
The event at the school is open to local film-makers and cinema enthusiasts.
Professor Uno is currently a lecturer at the School of Cinema-Television at the University of Southern California.
He has directed television programmes such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents (a remake of the old TV series), China Beach, The Outsiders, Early Edition and Dawson's Creek.
Uno has also directed the films The Silence, The Wash and Dangerous Intentions.
His AFI thesis film was nominated for an Academy Award for Live-Action Short in 1982.
His works have also received three nominations from the Independent Feature Project West (now called Film Independent), including best first feature.
He has had 15 Cable ACE Award nominations, with two wins, and five Emmy nominations, with two wins.
