HA NOI (VNS) — Lana Condor, an actress of Vietnamese origin, will be part of the group of superheroes in the upcoming sequel of the successful Hollywood film franchise X-Men.
Lana drew media attention when she was introduced as the newest cast member of X-Men: Apocalypse.
"I'd officially like to welcome our newest mutant Jubilation Lee, Jubilee Lana Condor to X-Men: Apocalypse," Director Bryan Singer wrote on Instagram.
The IMDb, the world's largest collection of movie, TV and celebrity information also revealed that this was Lana's first movie.
Her character Jubilee in X-Men is one of the youngest mutants who is of Asian origin and has a superhuman power to generate pyrotechnic energy plasmoids with her hands. In the cartoon series created by Fox in the 1990s, Jubilee was an orphan mutant who was introduced to Professor Xavier's school after escaping from her enemies.
Lana Condor, who was named Tran Dong Lan at birth, was born in Viet Nam in 1996. An orphan, she was adopted by American couple Mary and Bob Condor in 1997 and moved to California.
After graduating from high school in 2014, she won a scholarship to California Arts College.
Besides pursuing acting, Lana is also a dancer.
She will be acting with top Hollywood actors such as Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy in her debut film.
X-Men: Apocalypse is expected to be released next May. VNS
