HA NOI (VNS)— The unique landscape of the Dong Van karst plateau has been depicted in paintings by Do Duc at an exhibition held in Ha Noi.
Entitled Cao Nguyen Da (Living on Rock), the exhibition is the result of 40 years travelling to the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang.
"I was enchanted by the unique beauty of the thorny karst cliffs and the ethnic people and their culture," said Duc, 68. "I visited so many times."
Now living in Ha Noi, Duc has created many paintings of the region, 38 of which are in the exhibition. In his paintings humans are small part of the grand landscape.
Exhibition visitor Nguyen Dinh Thanh said he was impressed by the truthfulness in Duc's paintings.
"He can understand the region's quintessence," Thanh said.
Faustino Sineriz, an Argentinean tourist, said: "I want to learn more about your country. All the paintings in this exhibition offer me a glimpse of another beautiful region in Viet Nam that I've never been. Maybe it is a hint for my next trip."
