HA NOI (VNS)— Movie lovers, particularly those who want to learn about Palestine and its people, will feast their eyes on films to be screened at the Ha Noi Cinematheque this weekend.

During the week of International Day for Solidarity with the Palestinian people (beginning November 29) and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam – Palestine diplomatic relations, the event will screen the award-winning documentary 5 Broken Cameras and Palestine: Between The Occupation Walls.

"This film is not only one of the best documentaries of the year, it is one of the best movies of the year... one of the most astonishing and amazing things I've seen in cinema for a long time," said renowned documentary director Michael Moore.

Co-directed by Emad Burnat and Guy David, the film is a deeply personal, first-hand account of non-violent resistance in Bil'in, a West Bank village.

Also, Ha Noi Cinematheque members can view a range of Palestinian feature films from now through next Monday.

5 Broken Cameras will be shown in Arabic and Hebrew, with English subtitles and a Vietnamese translation.

In addition, the Vietnamese short film, Palestine: Between The Occupation Walls, will be shown before the main feature.

Audiences will also have the opportunity to meet with director Burnat at the screenings.

The screenings begin at 7pm on Sunday and Monday at the Ha Noi Cinematheque, 22A Hai Ba Trung Street, Ha Noi. — VNS
