HCM CITY (VNS)— Nearly 300 singers and musicians as well as over 2,000 young people living in HCM City will perform in a music video and on a new album to highlight the contributions of Vietnamese soldiers stationed on the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago.

Called Bien Dao Que Huong (Sea Island Homeland), the album and music video will include eight songs by popular composers like Dang Khuong and Thap Nhat.

Each song will be performed by 50 singers, according to singer Quynh Hoa, a member of the album's production board.

Hoa said her staff were working hard on the outdoor filming as well as the recording in the studio. The album is expected to be released in November.

The album is sponsored by the HCM City Youth Cultural House, Music Association, Tre (Youth) Studio and Tuoi Tre (The Youth) newspaper.

Soldiers stationed on the island will receive a copy of the album. The producers hope to raise enough money from the sales of the album to provide help to the soldiers and their families.-VNS
