Three books of the world-renowned Phan – Firmament without Roof Cover, Seeds of Night and Day and Out of the Dark – have been translated into English. They have been printed in the US, the UK, Australia and Canada.
The American-Albanian poet Gjeke Marinaj selected 50 poems from these books and translated them into the Albanian language. This is the first time a Vietnamese poet's work has been published in Albania. The book was printed a day before the festival.
Marinaj is an honoured poet, writer, translator and literary critic. Currently living in the US, he was the first president of the Society of Albanian-American Writers, established in 2001.
Phan was born in 1955 in the northern province of Ninh Binh and now lives in Hai Phong City. He has won several literary awards in Viet Nam and has published 15 books of poems.
His works have been translated into English, French, Swedish, Korean, Indonesian and Thai languages.— VNS
