HA NOI — Seventy cyclists pedalled through the fourth stage of the Binh Duong international women's open yesterday, but the win went to veteran Vo Thi Phuong Phi.
Phi from Binh Duong Water Supply-Drainage and Environment finished with a time of 3hrs, 5mins and 56 seconds and average speed of 33.883 kmph in the 105km stage from the southern province of Dong Nai's Bien Hoa City to Tay Ninh Province's Tay Ninh Town.
Nguyen Thi That of An Giang Plant Protection 1 and Nguyen Thi Thanh of Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap were the runners-up.
An Giang Plant Protection 2's Nguyen Thi Thi continued to wear the yellow jersey with the best overall time of 13:32.51. She was followed by Vo Thi Bich Lam of the Domesco Dong Thap youth team and Thanh who came in second and third, respectively.
Thanh retained the green jersey as the best sprinter with 39 points after four stages.
Despite Phi's effort, her team fell behind Domesco Dong Thap youth, which took the lead with a combined time of 40:30.16, followed by Can Tho City and Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap.
Today, cyclists will compete in the fifth stage, 115km from Tay Ninh Town to Dong Xoai Town in the province of Binh Phuoc. — VNS
