HA NOI (VNS) — Football Channel Asia, a popular website of the king of sport, has said the Filipino national team has arranged a friendly match with Viet Nam on September 3.
It is a warm-up match for both squads who are going to take part in their third-round match of the World Cup 2018's qualifier.
The match will be held at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bocaue, Bulacan.
The Philippines will compete in a World Cup qualifier with Uzbekistan on September 9, while Viet Nam face Chinese Taipei on the previous day.
"It's important for us to utilise the Fifa dates for us to play friendly matches and develop cohesion in the team," Dan Palami was quoted by Sports Inquirer as saying.
The Philippines have been impressive in their first two matches, sharing the lead position in their group with North Korea with six points each after defeating Bahrain 2-1 in a surprise win, and Yemen 2-0 last month.
Viet Nam, on the other hand, lost their first match 0-1 to Thailand and ranked third in Group F. The Viet Nam Football Federation has not responded to the invitation.
