HCM CITY (VNS) — An exhibition of 40 photos of endangered wildlife rescued by Wildlife at Risk (WAR) opened yesterday at Mango Bay Resort on Phu Quoc Island in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.
The animals depicted in the photos were all victims of illegal poaching, trading or consumption.
The aim of the exhibition is to call for a stop to the "illegal use of wildlife products", according to a WAR press release.
Most of the animals in the photos have been released back into the wild, and the others are living at WAR's rescue facilities, including Cu Chi Wildlife Rescue Station in HCM City and Hon Me Wildlife Rescue Station in Kien Giang Province.
Forty of the photos were taken by seven WAR staff during rehabilitation or release of the wildlife in a natural setting.
The photos are both artistic and informative. Endangered animals depicted include the Asian leopard, yellow-cheeked crested gibbon, moon bear, green peafowl and pangolin as well as the loris, hawksbill and common pheasant.
The highlights of the exhibition are photos of endangered wildlife that can be found in forests on Phu Quoc Island.
The photos are available for purchase. All funds raised during the exhibition will go toward WAR's rescue activities. — VNS
