Viet Nam will send two swimmers to compete at the ninth Asian Swimming Championships from November 15-25 in the United Arab Emirates.

Hoang Quy Phuoc and London Olympian Nguyen Thi Anh Vien will be taking to the pool.

At the 26th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Indonesia last November, 18-year-old Phuoc set a new SEA Games record in the men's 100m butterfly event, while 16-year-old Vien proved her talent at the recent Southeast Asian Swimming Championships in Singapore.

In preparation for the event, Vien has been training in Florida while Phuoc has been on a course in China.

The 11-day event will draw around 700 athletes from 23 member nations. Among the entries are Olympians and Olympic champions.

This will be the first time that all four disciplines in the 50m pool, synchronised swimming, water polo and diving will be contested in one competition in one venue, the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Complex in the UAE.

The championships will be a qualifying event for the FINA Swimming World Championships in July 2013.-VNS
