HA NOI (VNS)– Hailed by The New York Times in 2007 as "an excellent young Polish pianist," Polish-American Anna Kijanowska will give her debut performance in Ha Noi next week.
Kijanowska, who is passionate about presenting Polish music to the world, began her musical education in Bielsko-Biala in Poland. After receiving a Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy in Wroclaw, she was awarded a scholarship to study in the US. She holds a doctorate and a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York.
A concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician, Kijanowska has performed in major music festivals in Europe and the US, including the Kiev Festival, the Polish Composers Festival and the Quartet Program at Bucknell University.
Her music has also been broadcast on New York Classical Music Radio, New York Public Radio, Chicago Radio, Radio New Zealand and SBS National Public Broadcasting in Australia.
The pianist has also conducted master classes at leading universities and conservatories around the world. She was invited to judge the Yamaha Piano Competition in Guangzhou, China, the Chopin piano competitions in Indonesia and Singapore and the Washington International Competition in the US.
Kijanowska's repertoire spans from the 16th to the 21st century and includes rarely-performed gems of Polish repertoire, such as the Piano Concerto by Witold Lutoslawski, as well as major works by Frederic Chopin and Henryk Mikolaj Gorecki.
During her Ha Noi debut, the artist will present works by famous Polish composers, including Chopin, Jan Ignacy Paderewski, Karol Szymanowski and Grazyna Bacewicz.
The performance will take place at the Youth Theatre, 11 Ngo Thi Nham Street on January 23 at 8pm.
A day earlier, on January 22, Kijanowska will perform at 8pm at the Cava Lounge in the Melia Hotel, 44B Ly Thuong Kiet Street.
