HA NOI (VNS)— A book titled Viet Nam –The Land of Dragons and Fairies by researcher Daria Mishukova was introduced by the Viet Nam Writers Association yesterday in Ha Noi.
The book was first printed in 2007 and reprinted in 2010 in Russian. After it was first published, it was recognised as the best book about Viet Nam in Russian, according to Professor Ha Minh Duc.
The book has become a guidebook for Russian tourists. The 222 pages offer Russian tourists comprehensive information about Viet Nam, its land and people, popularising and promoting Vietnamese tourism.
The book was translated into Vietnamese by the writer herself with the hope it will help Vietnamese readers communicate with foreigners.
The book was completed in 2006 after three months of research. Mishukova spent about 10 years learning Vietnamese and received a PhD in Vietnamese studies.
She graduated from Far Eastern National University in 2001 after five years in a Russian university programme on Oriental studies.
She has produced more than 30 research papers on linguistics and Vietnamese culture which have been published in Vietnamese, Russian and English magazines. Her articles on Vietnamese landscapes have been published in the Vladivostok Air's Inflight Magazine.—VNS
