HA NOI (VNS) — Vietnamese Professor Vu Khieu has been honoured with Hungary's Knight's Cross Order for his contributions to fostering the relationship between Viet Nam and Hungary.
The ceremony was held in Ha Noi on Monday with the attendance of Viet Nam's National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and Hungarian National Assembly Chairman Kover Laszlo.
Professor Vu Khieu was one of the first Vietnamese people to study and work in Hungary in 1959. After his return to Viet Nam, he contributed to research on society, science, culture and aesthetics. He was also one of the founders of the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences.
Over the past 60 years, he has devoted his time to sharing Hungarian cultures with Vietnamese people, translating famous literary works from Hungarian into Vietnamese and supporting Hungarian researchers in Viet Nam, which has helped to build and maintain the friendship and co-operation between Viet Nam and Hungary.
He has been honoured with many Party and State titles. — VNS
